U.S. in Distress!

I've been following this the past few days. The hearing is today, so I decided to post the article

From Boston Herald - link

Obama’s auntie still freeloading

Here’s another Obama sweetheart deal you won’t see on C-SPAN.

This morning, the fate of Boston’s most infamous illegal immigrant, Zeituni Polly Onyango (also known as “Aunt Zeituni”) will be determined in a closed-door hearing.

Why in secret? Because Auntie’s saga reveals every embarrassing truth that amnesty advocates and open-borders liberals like Mayor Tom Menino and Gov. Deval Patrick try to hide.

The most important being that illegal immigrants don’t get that way without first doing something, well, illegal.

President Barack Obama’s Aunt Zeituni admits she illegally overstayed her visa. Instead of obeying the law, she went to a judge in 2003 with a bogus request for asylum. She was turned down. She ignored the deportation order and instead filed an appeal. She was told again: It’s illegal for you to stay.

She’s still here.

Aunt Zeituni donated $260 to her nephew’s campaign for president - which is also against the law because she’s not a U.S. citizen. How against the law is it? Remember when the president launched his unprecedented attack against the Supreme Court during his State of the Union? His complaint was that foreigners might donate money to influence U.S. elections.

All these crimes extend from the first crime - violating our immigration laws. It is simply impossible to stay in this country illegally without committing other crimes, like tax fraud and identity theft.

But it’s not the illegal stuff that Aunt Zeituni’s doing that’s so outrageous. It’s what she’s apparently able to do legally and openly.

She is shamelessly - and happily - living in taxpayer-subsidized housing intended for citizens and legal immigrants. Is there some poor American veteran living in a shelter because she’s got this apartment? Aunt Zeituni doesn’t care - why should she? Menino and the Boston Housing Authority don’t.

Barack Obama aunt arrives for her 2nd asylum hearing

President Obama’s ‘Auntie’ Zeituni Onyango, who became a lightning-rod for the immigration debate when she was discovered living illegally in South Boston during her nephew’s landmark 2008 White House run, is today sitting in a wheelchair, cane across her lap in a Boston courtroom, asking a federal judge to throw her a welcome mat.

Onyango, the 57-year-old Kenyan half-sister of Obama’s late father, has been in the country illegally since being ordered deported in 2004. In a removal proceeding versus the Department of Homeland Security she succeeded in barring the public from, Onyango will argue for political asylum before U.S. Immigration Judge Leonard I. Shapiro - though it’s unclear on what grounds.

One month after she became the aunt of the president of the United States, Shapiro granted her a temporary stay to remain in the country and reopened her case.

Still, Onyango has her work cut out for her today. According to a Syracuse University analysis of decisions by immigration judges, between 2004 and 2009, Shapiro denied 581 of the 867 asylum claims before him, or, 67 percent of the cases.

That was 10 percent higher than the national denial average, Syracuse reported.

For the past several months, Onyango, a computer programmer, has unsuccessfully tried to fly below the radar in a modest public-housing apartment in Southie sporting a sticker of Old Glory on her front door.

More to this story -- here

It's a closed door hearing. I'm sure we'll know at some point. If she is denied, as she has in the past, will she leave?

? HUH ! If she is a computer programmer -- WHY is she living in public housing????

Decision on Obama Aunt due this spring

Posts Boston Herald - here

President Obama’s “Auntie” Zeituni Onyango can stay in South Boston - for now.

Her removal proceeding today in federal court in Boston versus the Department of Homeland Security has concluded, but a final decision on her residency is not due until the spring.

The judge is giving both Onyango and the government 30 days to file closing arguments. He will then rule on her future no later than the May 25.
